Problem Statement

The preference for foreign or Western music by most Cameroonians, especially the younger generation, is causing a decline in the popularity of local music. This trend poses a threat to the preservation of Cameroon’s rich musical heritage and the livelihood of local musicians.

Solution

We propose a music contest to revitalize Cameroonian local music by providing a platform for aspiring musicians to showcase their talent and gain recognition. The contest will also promote local music through various media channels, reaching a wider audience.

Target Audience

The target audience for the music contest is Cameroonians between the ages of 20 and 60, with a focus on the younger generation. This age group is particularly susceptible to the influence of foreign music and has the potential to become the next generation of local music fans and artists.

Competition Format

The music contest will consist of three stages:

1. Regional Castings: Castings will be held in all ten regions of Cameroon to identify talented musicians.

2. Regional Competitions: Regional competitions will be held to select the top contestants from each region.

3. Grand Finale: The grand finale will be held in the country’s economic capital, bringing together the top contestants from each region to compete for the grand prize.

Prizes and Recognition

The winners and finalists of the music contest will receive attractive prizes, including monetary rewards, recording opportunities, and media exposure. These prizes will provide a boost to the careers of the winning musicians and showcase their talent to a wider audience.
